Panelab’s factory relocate

Panelab is a leader in the aluminium facade and cladding industry. They’ve been in business for over 20 years and have worked with a huge range of clients, from large companies to small residential clients. Helix helped Panelab move their operations to a new factory on the Northshore.

This project was under tight deadlines and had many specific requirements, but Helix was able to deliver exactly what Panelab needed. This included a complete rewire throughout the factory, with new fittings and upgrades for the factory itself and the new head office.

One of the main things that Helix Electrical had to do for this project was make sure the building would be able to meet Panelab’s power requirements. The heavy machinery used day in, day out and meant there was no room for error when it comes to keeping production at 100% capacity.

This was straight-forward enough, but there was more to it.

Helix Electrical spent extra time working on the design for our electrical installations, so that the factory would be future proof. Panelab knew that in the future they’d need to upgrade their factory with new machines, so we factored this in and made sure that any new machine that Panelab purchased would be compatible with the system that we installed for them.

As anyone with any business sense can guess, the productivity of Panelab’s workers is integral to the business’s success. You might think an electrical company wouldn’t be able to help workers be more productive, but with our practical solutions, we were able to make things much easier for Panelab’s factory workers.

Instead of using conventional methods and having leads run across the ground causing hazards, we opted to have droppers that supplied power and air to each of the work benches. This keeps the workspace clear of extra clutter and makes it easier for Panelab’s workers to do their job. This was just one of many simple but practical solutions that we implemented for Panelab’s new factory.

Helix wasn’t just doing the electrical work for the factory itself. Along with the new factory was the new head office section of the building. For Panelab, it was important that everything in the head office reflected the business’s commitment to excellence. They needed it to look clean and professional so that prospective customers would feel more comfortable.

For this part of the project, we made sure that our lights suited the design of the office. They were bright and clear for reading plans but warm and welcoming for clients.

Along with our usual commercial services, we helped Panelab by upgrading their alarm system and installed some large and powerful lights outside their facility. When a factory or distribution centre has unreliable or insufficient security lighting, it can make the facility far more vulnerable to theft. We made sure that with our system in place, Panelab wouldn’t have to worry about their factory.
